The first settlers came in 1876. Mostly by oxen. The first home was a hole dug in the ground with a layer of logs on the inside and log piles on the top. The township organized in 1879 and the school district was organized in 1879 as well. Classes ere first held in the log home.
The township developed an overnight stop for settlers who landed there. They would stay the night in a large straw barn that could hold about 50 horses or oxen. This is partly still there. The Northern Pacific Railroad was constructed across the north east corner of Grand Forks County in 1881 and a settlement began to grow. Businesses were the general merchandise store which served as a post office, depot, grocery store, dry goods and farm machinery. Neighbors would visit around the pot belly stove while waiting for their coffee that was ground there in the hand crank grinder. The farmers shopped for horse collars, nosebags, milk pails bib overalls, felt boots and bull Durham tobacco while their wives chose bolts of yard of goods.
The town dwindled away in the depression years and the stockyards loading station was discontinued in September 1957.

We investigated this property and found that the general store was still in place as well as the gas station and barn. Dilapidated as it was, they were still erected. The claims that was the most interesting was that of shadow people seen at night along the tree line. During the investigation two of our investigators noticed movement all along the tree line in the back yard. Also that night there was no wind and while sitting on the ground in the back yard the trees started moving as if a huge wind kicked up. After witnessing that I went to my car to get a drink of water and as I closed the door of my car, I turned around and seen what looked like a white shadow or mist floating by the abandon car that was in the field. Here is how it went:

INVESTIAGTION OVERVIEW:
Night Light was called to do an investigation at a Farm home outside of Grand Forks. It was a township in the early 1800’s that now has disbursed. There were homes, along with a general store and gas station. The old steam engines would make their stop and dropped of people that stayed in the barn before going off somewhere else. All that is left there is a house, the store, the gas station. The barn that is there and over time destroyed. Only a small section is left. The owners of the property have stated that they have seen shadow people along the tree line. The daughter that lives there had grown up with this and not only seen the sprits that are there but are very good friends. They do talk to her on a daily bases. One of the names of the sprits that are there is Charles Fischer. One of the clients stated that they had seen a women in white. She was wearing a white night gown with lace, kind of an older woman. The daughter would come in sometimes and lay her keys down and when she would go back to get them they were gone. After hunting for them all over the house she would still not find them. She told us that she had to yell at the sprits to bring them back and sure enough they would. In the home there are two bedrooms one was call the clean room and then the other was called the evil room. The daughter felt a negative energy within the closet and would never sleep in the room. These are just some of the claims stated to us during the interview.
Sunday’s Investigation
We arrived at the home at 9:00pm to set up and start the investigation. We were not able to do the investigation without them there. We did find out that the daughter will be home later that evening and activity should start up. We set up video cameras in the clean room as well as the attic area where they state a dark figure has been seen. We split up into 3 group’s one group being on the top floor the other on the main level and the 3rd group outside. When the daughter came home she asked me if we could go to the clean room to see if we can make contact. When she did you could see a change in her eyes as if they took her over. She told us in words that was a little strange “too many” I could feel that this sprit was not just upset we were there but Mad! She told us that he was not going to do anything at all. Could not understand why we were there after all these years. As she came down the stairs after this meeting we had in the clean room she told her mother that the sprit had grabbed her arm and shook her asking her how come and why are they there.
We finished around mid-night and we left.
EXPERIENCES DURING THE INVESTIAGTION:
One personal experience I had was that I seen something in the field near the truck that seemed to float across it. It Kind of looked as if it was a white shadow or white mist. Two investigators were down stairs in the basement area. Two more were located in the evil room. When one person in the evil room asked if he could make the room colder, it did only in the basement and not in the bedroom. The investigator stated it dropped about 5 degrees down there around the time they had asked for it.
It was told us after the investigation that the daughter was grabbed and shaken but the sprit she talks to.
PHOTOGRAPHIC/VIDEO/AUDIO EVIDENCE:
Night Light was able to capture all of the phenomena in one way or another. Night Light will be giving copies of everything to the client once it is downloaded

- Digital Cameras were use to take still photos for evidence. Nothing did come up on camera shots.
- EMF Readings proved to be a lot higher than normal in the kitchen area this could cause dizziness, paranoia, and feeling of being watched.

- Voice Recorders were used for EVP work;
- Night vision cameras were use to try and pick up the shadow people or any black figures that they claimed were there
EVIDENCE ANALYSIS:
Night Light did go through all evidence. The voice recorder seemed to be the way to go on this one. There A lot of residual EVP’S. Some of Chickens, drums, and also the train. However Evps does not prove a haunting they were the most interesting for sure. We did not capture anything on camera, or video camera.

Final Analysis:
There are many questions unanswered at this point due to the history of the property. We will continue to locate any information about the property to see what we can find. When we tried to find out the date of the home there was nothing to be found. It was stated it could have been built late 1700’s or early 1800’s. The search for answers is few and far between. Do hope that we can find a date when the home was really built. We were able to see that there had been a Charles Fischer that had passed away but still needed to see if this was the right Charles Fischer. Night Light did find the place a very fun place to investigate at. However, the evps do not prove a haunting, even with the personal experience we all had at one point we feel we do not have any proof that it is haunted. We do hope to make these ongoing investigations to find the truth.
