Tech Notes:

The equipment I will talk about here is some of the equipment that we as a group use on our investigations. I hope that you find it usefull and informative. As we try new equipment I will pass on our opinions on how well they worked and how usefull it was.

Data Loggers:

These are great peaces of equipment to have. Think about this, you have a personal experience of a change in temperature. How do you prove it happened? If you were with someone else you have a second witness to the event, but no real proof.

If you have static cameras set up and something is picked up by them, you have no way of knowing if there was a temp change.

This is where the data loggers come in. Set one with the static cameras and if you have more than one you can clip one to an out side pocket. Just make sure it isn't inside the pocket. After the investigation is over just down load the data on to a computer and you have proof of the temp changes you may have felt.

Game Cameras: (aka trail camera or camera trap)

I like game cameras for investigations for two reasons.

1. They are activated by motion, so they work good as static still cameras. Most can be set to take 3 or more pictures each time it is triggered. You can also get them with infra red capabilities (which I prefer)and some can do video for a short time when triggered. There is also some that record the time and teperature when the picture or video was taken.

2. They are duel use. By that I mean it is something that you can use for more then just ghost hunting. They are used by hunters, and I even know of some people who use them as security cameras. They are designed to be outdoors, so you don't have to worry about that rain storm damaging them.

My advise about these is, get one with the fasted response time that you can, and if you want one that can take video as well, check the record time and get the longest you can. Remember you get what you pay for with these. If you don't have any use other than ghost hunting for one you may not want to get one of the higher end cameras which can cost $200 or more.
